Performance Support

Player & Team Performance Support

Boon Elite provides performance support for individuals and teams operating in demanding environments where focus, execution and decision-making matter.

Engagements range from individual player support through to team-focused work undertaken during periods of competitive pressure and operational significance.

The case studies below outline documented observations, support provided and subsequent outcomes.

This work does not replace medical care, coaching or existing support teams. Instead, it provides a discreet additional layer of support designed to complement them.

Individual Player Performance Support

Focus

Player struggling to back himself in key moments.

• Tendency to defer rather than take opportunities

• Hesitation in decision-making

• Limited physical presence

Approach

Work focused on what the player wanted to improve, tracking how this showed up in matches across three sessions.

Session Progress

Session 1

Immediate shift in confidence and involvement.

More willing to take opportunities.

Sharper, more alert performance.

Session 2

New team environment.

Limited touches on the ball.

Composure remained, though performance was less consistently expressed.

Session 3

Return to familiar environment.

Clear increase in confidence and decision-making.

More direct play and willingness to take on opponents.

Observed Changes

• Increased confidence in key moments

• Greater willingness to take opportunities

• More physical involvement

• More composed and present in matches

Feedback

“He looks like a different player.”

“Taking chances he never would have done.”

“I’ve seen a massive difference.”

“We could have been in a different place if we started earlier.”

Team Performance Support - Match Turnaround

Focus

A team was trailing during the closing stages of a knockout match.

Initial observations centred on a key attacking player who appeared to be encountering resistance in front of goal. Opportunities were developing, but the outcomes were not matching the positions being created.

Approach

Initial attention focused on the player showing the restriction.

Shortly afterwards, the player was substituted.

Attention then shifted to restrictions identified around the goal area itself and the team's ability to convert opportunities.

During this phase of the observations, a specific observation was documented that a particular player would score.

A subsequent observation was then documented that the same player might score again.

Observed Changes

A noticeable shift in attacking effectiveness was observed during the closing stages of the match.

The areas identified around the goal-scoring opportunities appeared to become increasingly active as the match progressed.

Outcome

Following the observations concerning the goal area, it was documented that a specific player would score.

Approximately four minutes later, the player scored.

A further observation was then documented that the same player might score again.

Approximately three minutes later, the player scored a second goal.

The team recovered from a losing position and progressed in the competition.

Documentation

The observations, notes and images were documented during the match before the outcome was known.

The original documentation and images are retained on file.

Team Performance Support – Tournament Match

Focus

During a knockout match, observations were documented around attacking restriction, team dynamics and the route from which a decisive attacking moment was likely to develop.

The key areas identified were:

  • A restriction connected to a key attacking player.

  • A specific observation concerning the player's right leg.

  • A block affecting the player's attacking output.

  • Signs of dispute or division within the team.

  • The likely direction from which the attacking breakthrough would come.

Observations

Observations were recorded throughout the match relating to the player, team dynamics and the developing attacking patterns.

Particular attention was given to the restriction connected to the player, the right-leg observation, the apparent division within the team and the attacking route identified in the documentation.

These observations were documented before the outcome was known.

Observed Changes

A visible shift became apparent shortly after the observations were recorded.

The player identified in the documentation became involved in the decisive attacking moment.

The attacking route previously noted began to develop in the manner documented.

Outcome

Approximately one minute after the key block was documented, the player connected to the observation scored.

The goal developed from the direction previously identified in the documentation.

Further attacking momentum followed, with additional goals occurring later in the match.

The team progressed in the competition.

Documentation

The observations, notes and images were documented during the match before the outcome was known.

The original documentation, timestamps and images are retained on file.
